Dr. Mark Dotzour

If you’ve heard Dr. Dotzour speak at our previous Real Estate Forums you know how insightful and entertaining his presentations are. If you haven’t heard him you owe it to yourself to take advantage of the opportunity to hear one of the premier speakers on economic and real estate issues in the country. Dr. Dotzour’s commentary will be especially relevant this year in light of the various scenarios that have been playing out by our government leaders in Washington.

Biography

Dr. Mark G. Dotzour (pronounced Dot sir) is the Chief Economist and Director of Research for the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. He earned his Ph.D. in the Department of Finance at the University of Texas at Austin in 1987 and served as Associate Professor of Real Estate and Finance at Wichita State University for 10 years. As Chief Economist, he is currently doing market research to monitor how global and national trends are likely to impact residential and commercial real estate markets.

Prior to his academic career, he was president of Gleneagles Development, Inc., developing residential subdivisions in Wichita, Kansas. He also served as president of Dotzour Inc., Realtors, which was a residential brokerage firm in Wichita.

He has been at the Real Estate Center since August, 1997. Since then, he has published 91 articles in magazines and given over 1,194 presentations to more than 195,000 people. His research findings and comments have been published in the Wall Street Journal, Money Magazine, USA Today and Business Week and was a guest on the Jim Lehrer Newshour on PBS.

Dotzour regularly makes presentations at national and state conventions. His audiences include residential and commercial real estate brokers, bankers, Chambers of Commerce, economic development organizations, homebuilders, construction and engineering firms, CPAs, wealth managers and foundations.

Dr. Dotzour and his wife LuAnn have been married for 39 years. They have two children and two grandchildren. His father was a professional golfer. He grew up on the golf course, but you couldn’t tell it from his current 15 handicap. He and LuAnn have spent a lot of time prowling small bookstores all over America looking for old books about Wall Street, economic history and science fiction.
